Utah Attorney General Mark Shurtleff has tried unsuccessfully for three years to get yummy malt beverages out of grocery stores. Now the state legislature will try and probably succeed. Now we will have to make a trip to a state-run liquor store to get something that's not any stronger than our 3.2 Utah beer. I'm in St. George, where we have had only one liquor store for a long time. Now we have a new one, but we have to ask around for the address.

I was watching the news on TV and Rod Decker was at the capitol talking to some teens who think we need yet another silly rule dealing with alcoholic beverages in Utah. (If those kids don't drink any alcoholic beverages that's their business. But why be in favor of making it less convenient for those of us who want such beverages? By the way, I'm speaking for those of us 21 and older.) Is it not bad enough that we can't pick up a bottle of wine at a grocery store? I will also have to make a special trip to a state-run liquor store and pay more for my very occasional six-pack off Smirnoff, which takes me three days to drink.

And yes, the Mormons are part of this nonsense. Of course.

Good to see that I am not the only one walking around with mild anti-mormon sentiments stemming from traumatic childhood experiences with those of the "dominant faith." It wasn't so much the things they said as the things they didn't say. I was an outcast because I didn't belong to the WARD.

I was out of place until I went to private school (high school years), then amazingly I felt like a real person again.

I keep trying to escape the Land of Zion but with a husband, jobs, house, two kids, it's very difficult. I will probably die here and they will bury me in my old "Anywhere but BYU" t-shirt.
